5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small, membrane-permeable quinolinium compound. It is not a peptide. It is characterised in the literature as a selective inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), an enzyme involved in the methylation of nicotinamide.
Published work has used 5-Amino-1MQ in adipocyte cell cultures and rodent models to study NNMT activity, NAD+ salvage pathways and cellular energy metabolism.
